DESCRIPTION
Stories and Songs of Stompin' Tom.Since Whiskey Jack’s inception 45+ years ago, their fans have been showering them with accolades, celebrating their songs and stories. One constant that has fueled their success is the ability to deliver a polished show, exuding charm, ease and playfulness, much like the shows they performed with Stompin' Tom.
Success took off in the 1980’s when the band was invited to host their own “Ol’ Back Porch” segment on CBC TV’s Tommy Hunter Show. Then, when Stompin’ Tom resumed his career, he called Duncan and invited Whiskey Jack to join him in the studio to record his acclaimed album, “Dr. Stompin’ Tom… Eh?”. Whiskey Jack and Tom would continue to perform and record together until Tom’s death in 2013.
Today, Duncan is joined by two-time Juno nominee, Douglas John Cameron and Stompin’ Tom’s favourite fiddler, from PEI, Billy MacInnis. These seasoned veterans carry the Whiskey Jack tradition into 2024 and beyond.
Douglas John is recognized across Canada for his 1985 hit, Mona With The Children (True North Records). That was soon followed by his weekly appearances on Treehouse TV. His theatrical and dynamic approach to performing, coupled with his talents on many instruments, bring an endless supply of energy to this already dynamic band.
Billy MacInnis is a force on many instruments but when he pulls out his fiddle, the crowd is on their feet. As Tom said, "Billy owns this music".
Duncan's first book, "My Good Times With Stompin' Tom" supplies the show with endless tales that accompany the songs we all know and love, songs from our national playlist. Copies are available at all their shows.
Whiskey Jack in 2024 continues to write, record and tour across the country. Their new album released this year, Whiskey Jack 10 - Do It Again, is now available on all platforms.
