Billeting

House a Summer Festival Theatre Artist

The Port Stanley Festival Theatre is seeking billets to share their homes with incoming actors/crew members.

For over 20 years the Port Stanley Festival Theatre has relied on the hospitality of the local community to house summer Theatre artists. Past billets will tell you what exciting and rewarding times they have had. “When I first thought about billeting I wondered what was it going to be like having someone live in my home, and what should I expect? It was a great experience with some bonuses for participating and I am ready to do it again! “ Cheryl M.

The theatre is searching for local residents to open their homes for between 1 to 7 weeks for the 2023 summer season, so the actors and creative team can stay close to the theatre and enjoy comfortable accommodations while getting into their roles. As the theatre continues to grow and succeed so does the quantity of cast and crew.

Are you vacationing this summer? Let us take care of your house while you are away and billet one or more of our team. Or… Do you have an RV sitting in your yard that could be used?

WHAT DOES A BILLET SPACE LOOK LIKE?

Private or semi-private apartments are highly desired (e.g. granny suite, self-contained bedroom and bathroom, separate entrance, etc.)

A private bedroom in a homeowner’s home with access to a bathroom, shared cooking and living space

Walking distance to the theatre, but further locations with parking spaces are needed as well

Internet access is appreciated. Bonus if there is laundry.

Artists travel from across Ontario (and sometimes further) to work with us. These are professional artists who will be busy at the theatre for most of their time with you, and are simply looking for a clean, safe, and welcoming home to sleep at night. They may need some room in the fridge, but are not expecting a maid service! They provide their own food, are expected to clean up after themselves and respect the Host.

As a token of our gratitude, the Theatre offers rewards including a pair of Season subscriptions- value of $400, tax receipt of $150 per week/per billet, a $50 gift certificate/per billet to a Port Stanley restaurant or retailer and an appreciation party hosted by PSFT in September.

To ensure a successful and pleasant experience for both host and billet, we will be pleased to visit your home and answer any questions you may have.
